It's take hours and expertise to make a dance. By contributing to our GoFundMe, you help with dancer fees for rehearsal and performance, space rental fees, and more. Any donation--large, small, or tiny-- is extremely meaningful and will help us reach our goal. Thank you for your consideration!

More about
 Glitter Baby

 our show at the Fringe

This work approaches motherhood as a cradling of our own in inner child and placed within the context of formal mechanism of dance performance. Making this work has been a way for me to unpack and claim the queer act of parenting and how navigating that landscape puts my own childhood into focus. I’m curious about how meaning is made through collaged dreamscapes and non-sequitor logics, much like how my daughter makes her own sense of the world. This dance includes athletic movement, microphones, text, and disco balls. By using multiple kinds of physical materials, I hope to disrupt the dance from it’s classical associations despite the formality of much of the movement and abstracted relationships.

Tammy Carrasco is based in Philadelphia, PA. She makes work of the body that requires presence and authorship from audiences. Carrasco opens space to her collaborators to bring all of themselves into the room, to bring the notion of fluidity and changeability into the language of their collaboration and work, and to embody the residue of the grey-areas of meaning that permeate out of their creative chemistry.

Listen to Carrasco's interview with Jim On The Air about dance film "Desert Picnic"

"Desert Picnic" debuted in 2020 at Houston Ballet's Frame x Frame Film Festival, and has been presented at Re:Emerge Dance Festival. "Desert Picnic" was made possible by funds from the NYState DanceForce supported by New York Council on the Arts, Pre-Tenure Grant programs and by the Dr. Nuala Affirmative Action/Diversity Drescher Leave Award from SUNY Brockport.
